The Dirty Tradition! 💩

This is an insight on the silent and thriving dirty tradition of Nigeria.

You see it,i see it,we all see it. I do it subconsciously, you do it subconsciously, and sometimes on purpose, but we all do it.We are all responsible.

I am trying to show you something that has always been in your peripheral vision, you just did not recognize it.A presence so pervasive you may have mistaken it for the background.

It is there, the unwritten and unspoken tradition.

Travel through Ebonyi, Plateau, or Sokoto, and you will find a common denominator, a complete absence of excellence

We have normalized the sight of open trenches posing as drainage. We have accepted the irony of 'pure water' sachets littering our impure streets. Every turn is a choice between two indignities, the stench of a roadside dump or the visual noise of plastic waste. It is not just a failure of sanitation, it is a failure of our collective imagination for what a city should be.

DO BETTER

We need to be more intentional about excellence .We need excellence in our environment, excellence in our behavior, excellence, all way round. No other race treats their people and their environment the way that we treat ours. We treat our surroundings like we have somewhere else.

It is not a rich or poor issue. It is an encoded tradition where the average Nigerian sees his environment in ruins, and is totally OK with it. We need to do better, we need to be better.
